Coconut Vanilla Chai Milkshake

2 Jun

A lot of people ask me what I do during the day as a stay at home mom.

For starters, I appreciate you asking me and not my husband, because according to him I’m relaxing.. πŸ™‚

Which is funny because this morning at 530 a.m., I spent a good 30 minutes washing a Baby from an unpleasant diaper change, all the while Mr. Know It All is snuggled up cozy in a warm bed snoozing away…

And I don’t know if you heard that first part..

530 a.m.

Β For a while Baby Boo woke up a little after seven, but then decided that there just needed to be more time in the day to play, so recently it’s been 530.

I guess 530 wouldn’t be so bad, if I went to bed at a decent time and didn’t stay up to watch Monday’s episode of the bachelorette. (Any one else find the cellular phone salesman a little QT) Don’t worry, my husband doesn’t mind, he’s sleeping.

It’s been somewhat of a struggle for me to switch from Ari mode to Mom mode, and things that amuse me, really don’t amuse Baby Boo. (She’s not all that into Cell Phone Guy..)

But somehow we manage, and some days I look at the clock and say, it’s ONLY 11! And other days Hubby comes home and I’m still in my PJ’s, Baby Boo is nakie, and I am far from what you would call Pleasant smelling.

On the other hand, this little one masked any smell that may have come her way with a sweet scent of cinnamon.

The Cinnamon Challenge was so 6 months ago for Baby Boo.

She clearly finds joy eating it straight out of the Bottle.

Don’t even try and take it away from her.

You will pay the price.

Roughly 5 bucks, because that’s how much it’s gonna cost to buy more cinnamon once it’s spilled all over the floor in a tantrum rage to retrieve it back.

Luckily for me I had used the cinnamon for my breakfast prior to the Ms. Cinnabuns craving.

Coconut Vanilla Chai Milkshake

Inspired by the Amazing/Talented/Beautiful Mama Pea: Coconut ChaiΒ

1/2 C. Coconut Milk

1 frozen Banana

6 Coconut Milk ice cubs

1 tsp. Ginger

1 tsp. Cinnamon

1/2 tsp. Nutmeg

1/2 tsp. Pumpkin Spice (or Allspice)

1 TB Vanilla

Directions:

Blend all ingredients in a blender until creamy. Reduce milk for a creamier shake, and add milk for a less thick shake.

Thank you Mama Pea for your inspiration.

Best. Drink.Hands. Down.

But then..As they always do..Things got a little crazy.

Since I was making this for breakfast I decided I needed a little bit of Greeeeennsss…

Coconut Vanilla Chai Green Drink Milkshake

I HAD TO.

    Ari, the milkshakes look fabulous.

I saw Mama Pea’s recipe the other day and thought, mmm, good.

What I love most if your precious babe just going to TOWN on the cinnamon. A girl after my own heart πŸ™‚

      Thank you Averie!
And such a weirdo right? She is quite the picky eater, but maybe I should start adding cinnamon in everything πŸ™‚

and your baby boo is soooo beautiful! I love the big old grin she has on her face with that cinnamon.. AND how she is practically passed out in her baby food!

Smoothie looks great! I think being a stay at home mom is a tough job, I know I couldnt do it, but they say that the most unlikely people choose to stay home..so maybe one day

    • ThE DiVa DiSh June 2, 2011 at 6:27 pm #

      I never thought I could..You can amaze yourself πŸ™‚

  5. Jess@HealthyExposures June 2, 2011 at 12:12 pm #

eek, I couldn’t imagine eating cinn straight-up! haha. when she gets older you’ll have to use like, whole containers of cinnamon in your baked goods just so she can taste it with this early desensitizing to it πŸ˜›
    the smoothies look great!

  6. Lindsay@LivingLindsay June 2, 2011 at 12:39 pm #

Oh my gosh – this looks sooooo good!! I saw Mama Pea’s recipe too and immediately saved it. Your version looks amazing, too!! I so wish I had room in my freezer for a tray of coconut ice cubes – haha πŸ™‚ My husband thinks that I relax all day, too – I just sit here, check my email, etc. etc. I love it when he is home with Carter for any amount of extended time because he quickly learns that a full day of play IS work πŸ™‚

    • ThE DiVa DiSh June 2, 2011 at 6:27 pm #

haha yup we check e-mails, paint our toes, watch our shows, and shower!! we always have time to do our hair and makeup too right??!! πŸ™‚
That is good that your hubby understands when he stays home with the baby though πŸ™‚

Wow, I really think being a stay-at-home mom is a tough job! Not that I’ve ever done it, but 5:30 AM diaper changes and baths? Doesn’t sound too relaxing to me! πŸ™‚

I always love a good smoothie recipe – these look great!

    • ThE DiVa DiSh June 2, 2011 at 6:25 pm #

haha not relaxing in the least bit! πŸ™‚

    I LOVE that last pic!

Your shake looks fantastic. I had chia pudding for breakfast… I bet that add some awesome pudding-ness to shakes. Afternoon snack, here I come!

I never thought to freeze coconut milk – definitely trying that since I always have some leftover when I open a can.

    • ThE DiVa DiSh June 2, 2011 at 6:24 pm #

Silly me…I don’t proof read and I am so used to writting Chia not CHAI.. πŸ™‚ SO it is a CHAI drink, not CHIA..but you could def add them πŸ™‚
ANd I always freeze milk in treys for shakes and smoothies. Makes them creamier πŸ™‚

  11. Kari June 2, 2011 at 1:36 pm #

Mmm I think I just found my afternoon snack! How many T of chia seeds do you use? I’m not seeing it on the ingredients…
    Thanks!

    • Kari June 2, 2011 at 1:49 pm #

Haha- I just looked at Mama Peas and realized there aren’t any chia seeds! I think what you meant is chai instead of chia:) I was confused- sorry! Regardless, it looks yummy and I am still going to make it. And your daughter is so darn cute. Too bad we are related otherwise I’d be planning on hooking her up with my son:)

      • ThE DiVa DiSh June 2, 2011 at 6:23 pm #

Yum! I am totally not green drinked out. Both of those look amazing πŸ˜€ I love those spices. Also love the last picture, haha. I remember messes like that. I also love when people assume you sit at home all day because your a sahm. I have so much to say about that, but I’ll just leave it at that, haha.
